Digital Print Technology

With companies opting shorter print runs on their marketing collaterals, digital printing might just be the solution. ‘Print-on-demand’, ‘fast and efficient’, ‘high quality’, these are the qualities of a modern-day digital printer. Established during the early 1990s, digital printing set out to be at the forefront of quick and efficient printing. Unlike offset printing, digital printing presses do not require printing plates to print. Instead of using metal plates to transfer an image onto paper via wet ink, digital printing presses print the image directly onto the paper substrate using dry toners, or inkjet. It has a faster turnaround time and allows a low minimum order quantity (MOQ), which is a preferred choice for businesses of smaller scale and those that do not require massive print runs.

As e-books and social media marketing are on the rise, many companies have reduced their print runs over the years and turned to tapping into the new media for businesses. It can be seen that with current needs of the market, businesses are looking for print-on-demand services and high quality prints. Digital printing allows that and its technology has also evolved beyond the norm of just printing simple flyers, name cards or banners.

Our current print technology allows variable data printing, hologram printing, and security print technology. Lately, we have also adopted a print technology that allows us to print invisible ink; neon colours that could help you stand out from other businesses in your marketing needs.

Variable Data Printing Capability

With short print runs and removing the additional cost of printing plates, digital printing allows clients to print variable data such as but not limited to, vouchers, lucky draw cards, coupons, name cards with names or running numbers easily. This is one of the most useful features of digital printing presses especially when businesses want to personalise gift cards to their own clients.

Large Format Printing

Billboards, wall murals, and pull-up banners – we see them often as a commercial strategy to draw the eyes of consumers. With digital printing, it comes easy.

Albeit the advantage of shorter print runs and higher quality prints, digital printing presses are still unable to give a smooth print on textured paper, as it does not have the process of pressing the image onto the substrate, which offset printers could. While digital printing is a go-to for short print runs and variable printing, offset printing is still a much more affordable solution for large quantity printing of a 1,000 & more.

Both digital and offset printing presses have its strengths and shortcomings and Octogram Press seeks to serve a comprehensive print set-up to serve the needs of our clients.
